Enchanted (2024)

Enchanted is a video installation project incorporating rotoscoped videos of faces sourced from TikTok, presented on LCD panels arranged in a well-like structure. The project reflects on the intimate yet fleeting connections formed through digital interactions, particularly those moments of intense eye contact and dramatic expression shared among strangers on social media platforms.

Inspired by the myth of Narcissus, who became transfixed by his own reflection until his demise, Enchanted invites viewers to contemplate the contemporary dynamics of online relationships. The smartphone screen serves as a modern-day mirror, but instead of reflecting on ourselves, it presents many faces from others engaging in performative acts that affirm and surround us within a digital echo chamber.

Through this immersive experience, Enchanted explores the overwhelming nature of online presence, where attention is divided among countless individuals, leading to a gradual dissolution of self-awareness. The project aims to provoke critical reflection on our interconnectedness and the role of social media in shaping our perceptions of self and others.
